Please see the Hardkernel_ODROID-U2 page for instructions about setting up the device. The U2 and U3 are nearly identical in terms of software, so all setup instructions concerning u-boot and kernel are the same. Some small details differ (like routing of USB ports) but for both the vendor or a current mainline kernel this detail doesn't have an effect on the setup.
The board name "ODROID-U3" including the revision number is clearly printed on the bottom side of the board (the upper side is where the SoC cooler is located).
